A man accused of kidnapping his two children was arrested near Morehouse College Sunday.

Born Uallah Foster, 36, was arrested around 12:30 p.m. after a short chase, said Lt. Glenn Daniel of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The 2012 Chrysler 4-door sedan he was driving was spotted near Morehouse. Foster left the car on foot, leaving 3-year-old Peyton Foster and 1-year-old Cyrus Foster inside.

The children, who were the subject of a Levi’s Call, were safe and uninjured, Daniel said. They have been reunited with their mother.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire at the children’s home on Abercorn Way in Douglasville at 5:30 a.m., Daniel said, and discovered the children were missing. Foster was suspected of taking the children; he had also taken his ex-wife’s car.

Fire had damaged the house, but Daniel said the cause of the fire was still under investigation and he could not provide additional details.

Photos of the home provided by Channel 2 Action News show damage to the garage and a broken screen in an upstairs window.

The car Foster was driving was seen by MARTA police at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Lowery Boulevard in Atlanta, Daniel said. As MARTA police tried to stop the car, Foster got out of the vehicle and was stopped after a short foot chase.

Foster was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, motor vehicle theft, burglary, and criminal damage to property.

Foster is being held at the Douglas County Jail.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the fire to the home.

More charges may be added as the investigation continues, Daniel said.
