Surveillance footage from a used music store in Duluth appears to show a man zipping a trumpet underneath his jacket before leaving the store. The owner believes thieves have taken more than two dozen instruments from her shop.

The owner of a Duluth music store said thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of instruments from her shop, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Surveillance footage from Music Go Round, a used music store on Satellite Boulevard, appears to show one man zip a trumpet underneath his jacket before walking out of the shop last week.

Ann Wood, the store’s owner, believes he is part of a larger group that keeps shoplifting her instruments, she told the news station.

“We've got a list of 27 instruments that are missing, so we don't know how long this has been going on,” Wood said. “We're still investigating.”

The other missing instruments include flutes, clarinets and saxophones, she said.

She said the trumpet was worth between $1,500 and $2,200. All told, Wood estimates the stolen instruments cost her shop about $15,000.

Police are investigating and Wood is reviewing surveillance footage to see if any of the other shoplifting incidents were caught on camera, according to Channel 2.
