A man whose body was found inside a burned house in Alpharetta this month died of a stab wound to the chest, an official said Friday.

The findings from the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office confirmed what police suspected from the beginning: Omar Soto, 38, of Alpharetta, was killed before the fire started at the Birch Rill Drive home. Police think he lived there alone.

The fire started about 1 a.m. May 13, police said. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames after they arrived at the home in the Birkshire Manor neighborhood. They discovered Soto’s body at that point.

There are no suspects.

The investigation into the deadly stabbing and fire is ongoing.
