DeKalb County police were still searching Monday for the weekend car thief who drove off with a baby girl in the back seat, but they had already cited one person — the child's father.
Police said 28-year-old Jaime Cucum-Macario left his Nissan Maxima running and unlocked outside the Little Caesar’s location on Tucker Norcross Road on Saturday night with his 9-month-old daughter Brittney inside. The vehicle was stolen while Cucum-Macario was picking up pizzas inside the restaurant.
The car — and Brittney — were found about three hours later outside a Publix on Shallowford Road, about six miles from Little Caesar’s. The child was unharmed.
On Monday, DeKalb County police spokesman Capt. S.R. Fore said the primary suspect in the case had not been identified, but that Cucum-Macario had been cited for “creating a hazardous or offensive condition.”
The citation carries a fine, not an arrest. Fore said the fine amount will be determined in court.
No further information was immediately available.
