A Chattanooga man got drunk and let his daughter walk on a busy street into oncoming traffic, according to media reports.

Randall Sears, 49, was arrested and charged with neglect after a caller said Sears appeared unstable or inebriated when he was lying in the middle of the road with the 1-year-old girl standing over him, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.

Officers said several drivers blocked the road out of concern for the child. A barefoot Sears who smelled of alcohol was later taken into custody.

Sears also faces reckless endangerment and obstruction of roadway charges.
