Mary Bondurant Warren has completed two new volumes in her efforts to transcribe colonial Georgia records.

The first is “British Georgia, Personal Estate Inventories, 1754-1771.” In it, Warren, of Athens, has transcribed colonial estate inventories. Genealogists should enjoy the book, which is rich in details and names, including the many estate appraisers and those to whom debts were owed.

Scholars will savor the information on colonial household items. There is a preface by Dale Couch of the Georgia Museum of Art, and good material by the author on estate procedures, terminology and abbreviations. Slaves are listed by name, and sometimes by relationships. The book shows the roles of women, as administratrixes and executors. Warren references newspaper estate advertisements and includes great details from George Whitefield’s estate and the Bethesda Orphans home after his 1770 death, including a full list of books found there. This 770-page book is available on Amazon.com for Kindle download at $6.99. It is a very important addition to Georgia’s colonial resources and should be studied by anyone researching Georgia history.

Her second volume is “British Georgia, Colonial Deaths, 1733-1776.” It includes deaths from 1733-1752 from the Earl of Egmont’s records and others from the Trustee period. Next are deaths from 1755-1776 abstracted from estate records from two Ordinary’s Letters books, the Georgia Gazette and the Inventory book reviewed above. The author includes good background material on the Trustee and Royal periods of Georgia history and concludes with details from the years 1741 and 1742, mostly passenger arrivals. This is also a very important work for genealogists and scholars. It is 144 pages and also is available from Amazon.com for Kindle download for $6.99.
