It’s the bird version of fast food, delivered midair.
Chan says that he captured the images during nesting season, when male northern harriers can have multiple mates and are the sole providers of food to mates and offspring, according to an interview posted on 500px ISO.
Birding photographer Phoo Chan caught the remarkable images and created a composite image to illustrate the incredible ritual between male harriers and their offspring that is known as a “food exchange.”
