Luxe linen throws

Daniel Zimmerman knows his interior design clients love the classic look of linen. However, many are hesitant to use the material because it can be difficult to care for, so he created a washing process to make raw linen more durable and totally touchable in his collection of linen throws and bedding.

The designer and background: Zimmerman graduated from Ole Miss with degrees in banking and finance but also studied studio art. He then earned his MBA there before moving to South Florida for his first design job. In 2013, Zimmerman moved to Atlanta. He works as an interior designer at Musso Design Group. Last year, he launched Market Linen.

What's popular: Gray extra-large linen throw ($74.99) and ivory extra-large linen throw ($74.99).

Other favorites: Custom-sized linen coverlets ($250 and up).

What's next: Made-to-order linen drapery panels and roman shades.

New flame

Disappointed with store-bought candles and scents, Atlanta’s Paul Bruschi created his own fresh candle collection.

The founder and background: Originally from Snellville, Bruschi graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Point Park University in Pittsburgh. He worked as a professional ballet dancer until an injury sidelined him in 2012.

The company: Jack Be Nimble Candles is based in Midtown Atlanta. Since the founder was a dancer and quick on his feet, Bruschi thought the nursery rhyme character was fitting for his company name.

The goods: More than 30 unique scents of small-batch candles made from 100 percent soy wax and fine fragrance oils. The clean-burning, two-wick candles ($17) are packaged in a 10-ounce apothecary-style jar with a brushed metal lid.

Hot sellers: Southern Sunshine, a mix of Florida tangerines and Georgia peaches, is popular year-round. Also, a Day at the Spa with its mix of lemongrass, black currant and patchouli. At the holidays, Fresh Balsam (think balsam fir) is a top pick.

Other favorites: Hearth, a blend of orange spice, balsam fir, and pine smoke.

Fun request: Create a Maple Bacon candle. "It was a huge hit with men who wanted their 'man caves' to smell like food," Bruschi said.
