Matching your competitors' prices tends to make customers happy.
But Wal-Mart may have found out the downside to that policy.
CNBC reports that Wal-Mart announced that they would match online sellers' deals, including Amazon. With the PlayStation 4 console expected to be a hot seller, a few scammers got crafty.
Since anyone registered as an Amazon seller can easily make a legitimate-looking page, some scammers posted PS4's for sale for absurdly low prices -- $90 for a console that normally costs $400. They showed Walmart the fake pages, got store approval and walked home with a discount -- and then bragged about it on Twitter.
There are no reports of charges against the scammers so far.
