A little girl in North Carolina is making sure children who are less fortunate will also have a merry Christmas.

Bailey Bliven, who is only 6 years old, started the "Toy Take Away" after she cleaned out her playroom last year, WNCT reported.

She asked her family, friends and members of her church in October if they would donate new or used toys for children in need. Thousands of toys were donated.

One beneficiary of the giveaway was grateful.

"My nieces probably wouldn't have had a whole lot for Christmas, if anything, so the fact that she (their mother) can come out here and shop for them and get into the spirit," Jessica Shepherd told WNCT.

Bailey told WNCT that this year was big, but next year she hopes to have an even bigger event, possibly in two locations.
