The metro was just named the No. 8 best city for an active lifestyle in personal finance website WalletHub's 2017 ranking.

To come up with the list and each city's score, WalletHub analysts compared data on the 100 most populated American cities across two key dimensions: budget/participation and sports facilities/outdoor recreation.

The dimensions were evaluated based on 30 relevant metrics including average fitness club fee, cost of sports apparel, swimming pools per capita or walking trails per capita.

Data was collected from the U.S. Census Bureau, Trust for Public Land, Bikeshare.com and more.

The best city to live an active lifestyle is Madison, Wisconsin and the worst, according to WalletHub, is Memphis, Tennessee.

With a total score of 52.78, Atlanta ranked 14th in the budget/participation dimension and 13th in the sports facilities/outdoor recreation dimension.

According to WalletHub, Atlanta ranked in the top five for most swimming pools, tennis courts and fitness centers per capita.
