After his team's Week 3 game against Central Florida cancelled due to Hurricane Irma, Georgia Tech football coach Paul Johnson raised the possibility of scheduling a game during the team's bye week on Oct. 7 so that the Yellow Jackets can play 12 games this year.

Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday that Georgia Tech will not ultimately do so. The school is no longer in talks with any other team about scheduling a 12th game.

The Yellow Jackets were at one point trying to arrange a game with Atlanta neighbor Georgia State. Despite being separated by less than 2 miles, Georgia Tech and Georgia State have never met on the football field. Georgia State also had a game cancelled this season due to schedule reshuffling as a result of Irma.

However, Georgia State is scheduled to play at Coastal Carolina on Oct. 7. The two teams presumably could not find a date that worked for both schools.

Georgia Tech will now have two weeks to prepare for its Oct. 14 matchup with Miami.
