Just one day after announcing his presidential campaign in Miami, Jeb Bush followed in President Obama’s footsteps and — you guessed it — slow-jammed the news.
"I'm looking forward to hitting the campaign trail, and discussing the issues that are important to all Americans. And having spirited debates with my fellow Republicans," said Jeb Bush on the "Tonight Show."
"You don’t wanna mess with Lil Jebbie," said Jimmy Fallon.
While Jeb and Jimmy slow-jammed in true fashion, The Washington Post pointed out the segment was "roughly [a] four-minute synopsis of his announcement speech to Fallon's late-night audience."
Jeb even got to show off his bilingual skills during the bit. When talking about immigration, he spoke in both English and Spanish.
But, of course, this isn’t the first time a politician has slow jammed with Jimmy.
The Los Angeles Times called the segment "an unlikely rite of passage for politicians looking to make an impression with voters."
“[It] was a bold way for Bush to reintroduce himself to the American public after spending much of the last eight years out of the spotlight — especially given the slightly bawdy nature of the punchlines.”
And The Hollywood Reporter noted that Jeb's appearance on the "Tonight Show" was "the latest youth-skewing step in the politician's presidential campaign, following his partnership with Snapchat."
Well, guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this “youth-skewing” pays off going into the race for the GOP nomination.
