It's no secret that the price of certain items such as flowers and dinners can cost two to three times as much on Valentine's Day as any other day, but a recent analysis from travel website, Hipmunk, found that hotel rooms follow the same trend .

On average, in the U.S., a hotel room during Valentine's Day weekend will cost you 25 percent more.

In Atlanta, the cost of a V-day hotel room increases 68 percent from $144 to $242 during Valentine's Day.

That puts Atlanta at number six on the list of cities with the highest increase in room prices. Reno, Nevada is number one with a 114 percent increase in hotel prices.

It also happens that Atlanta is the 11th most popular destination for lovers on Valentine's Day.
