680/93.7 The Fan had to evacuate its offices at the Battery Tuesday morning after a landscaper hit a gas pipe and caused a major leak. SunTrust Park was evacuated as well.

For a time, the sports talk station switched to ESPN syndicated programming but were soon able to return to local content by using its UGA Broadcast Center, where Chuck Dowdle and Adam Gillespie talked about the UGA Bulldogs. The station's studios at SunTrust Park were unavailable.

"Always need to have back ups for your back ups," wrote boss David Dickey in a text from Goldbergs Fine Foods nearby, where many Fan employees camped out awaiting for clearance.

“Just glad that nobody was hurt,” Dickey added, “and fully understand the need to evacuate. Just a freak incident.”

Nick Cellini and Chris Dimino - who are the regular hosts late morning - didn't get cleared to get back into the building until after 10 a.m. They returned on air at about 10:13 a.m. after a 90-minute evacuation.

They thanked the Cobb County fire department and Goldbergs.
