Tift County football coach John Reid is set to be approved on Tuesday evening as head coach at Rome, The Rome News-Tribune has reported.
Reid was 14-17 in three seasons at Tift County, but the Blue Devils were 7-4 in 2014, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Tift beat out perennial playoff teams Lowndes and Camden County out of strong Region 1-AAAAAA.
Reid's best work came at East Paulding, which had not made the playoffs in its 15 years of existence until Reid was hired in 2006. East Paulding was 60-15 under Reid, averaging 10 victories.
Reid would replace Franco Perkins, a Rome native who was 29-23 in five seasons.
