The Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation is hoping area restaurants will volunteer to provide meals to area fire stations on Sept. 11.
"The events of Sept. 11, 2001 underscored the critical role firefighters and EMS personnel provide for preparedness, continuity and safety of our city," the association said in a statement. "AFRF’s mission is to ensure Atlanta is secure in the grasp of a world class fire and rescue department that continually improves its capabilities and capacity to respond to emergencies from the most basic to the most critical and challenging, saving life and property; putting first responders first so they can shield the City from harm."
The Georgia Restaurant Association is helping to spread the word by sharing the statement on its site.
Organizers would like to have 40 restaurants paired with 40 stations.
