When Gators running back Adam Lane was granted his release from the football program earlier this month, “family issues” and a desire to be “closer to home” were cited as reasons behind his decision to leave Gainesville.

So it was a little surprising to see the Winter Haven native transfer to Eastern Kentucky, which is even farther from his hometown. But Lane explained his decision to Lakeland's Ledger, saying he felt it was just time for a change.

Lane also has family in Kentucky, which helped him make his decision. “It really wasn’t anything anyone did in particular that made me leave,” Lane said to the Ledger. “I felt like it was time for something new and, at the same time, it complemented me and my family so it definitely made it an easy choice.”
