ATHENS — The "Next Generation" of Bulldogs has arrived.
Well, at least most of them have.
Georgia freshmen have been trickling in all afternoon, as has been well chronicled on UGA football’s official twitter feed @FootballUGA. And, yes, linebacker Roquan Smith of Macon County is among them. But while Smith is with his fellow freshmen this week, he won’t officially become a Bulldog until he enrolls in his first class. That will be on Thursday.
Smith is one of the six incoming freshmen I visited recently for a series called “The Next Generation” I’ve been working on the last week or so. The features will begin to run this week online and in the coming days and weeks in print newspaper.
In addition to Smith, I am preparing profiles on offensive lineman Pat Allen of Reistertown, Md., cornerback Juwuan Briscoe of Waldorf, Mad., wide receiver Terry Godwin of La Grange, offensive lineman Sam Madden of Barnegat, N.J., and defensive lineman Trent Thompson of Albany.
