Atlanta won’t escape the 40s, and drivers might not escape I-285 Wednesday afternoon.
The latter might be a little hyperbolic, but delays are extensive on the Perimeter's outer loop on the Westside, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Emergency pavement repairs caused all lanes to be blocked earlier in the afternoon, and two right lanes remain closed during the evening commute, the Traffic Center reported.
This 🔴 GRIDLOCK ALERT I-285/sb (Outer Loop) at Hwy. 166 (Exit 5) with two right lanes blocked has sent extra #ATLtraffic onto I-20/eb, down Fulton Industrial/Hwy. 70, and down Hwy. 6/Camp Creek. The Downtown Connector/sb is also trash. pic.twitter.com/qkzbbg2jkm

On the opposite side of the Perimeter, delays linger after a right outer loop lane was blocked past Memorial Drive by a crash in DeKalb County, the Traffic Center reported.
This just cleared out of the right lane. All lanes open but still seeing 285/nb (Outer Loop) delays from I-20. #ATLtraffic https://t.co/aI4u5hcX5T

Temperature-wise, very little has changed from the morning, which was the coldest since January, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Atlanta started in the 20s, and other parts of North Georgia started in the teens. Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said the chilly weather is going to stick around all day Wednesday.
“You need to bundle up all day long,” he said.

The taste of winter weather is due to an “Arctic blast,” according to Monahan. The cold air originated at the North Pole and made its way to Georgia this week, he said.
WINTER BLAST! Goooooood morning! You're waking up to the coldest morning since January with temperatures in the teens and 20s across north Georgia.

I'm tracking that + wet weather later this week -- now on Channel 2.
Stay warm! @wsbtv pic.twitter.com/C5X27dSy07
The good news is there will be only a little wind as the day progresses.
“When you start this cold, a little wind makes it feel even colder,” Monahan said, adding that a high wind chill could make temperatures in the 20s feel like they’re in the teens.
Temperatures have increased slowly to 47, but that should be as warm as Atlanta gets Wednesday.
We won't make it out of the 40s today. With a clear sky tonight we'll be back near freezing by morning.

I'm tracking the end of this cold snap and the return of rain live on Channel 2 at 5 pm. pic.twitter.com/V4g3rz68kI
That’s about 20 degrees below the average for this time of year. There is also no precipitation in the forecast.

I'm keeping an eye on road temps this morning and they're near freezing across much of north Georgia.

That's why we're getting some reports of patchy ice on the roads!@MarkArum is keeping you ahead of all of that now on Channel 2. @wsbtv pic.twitter.com/egNzvresHi
