Rain is here to stay.
There is a 30 percent chance of rain Tuesday through Thursday and a 40 percent chance Friday, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Storms rolled through Athens and parts of the metro area, but failed to become widespread in metro Atlanta by 5 p.m.
As clouds thicken, however, that cloud cover will translate to showers and isolated thunderstorms, mostly in metro Atlanta and south of Atlanta.
“As we head through the evening hours, we’ll keep a mostly cloudy sky and a few isolated showers through 9 o’clock this evening,” meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
Then showers should taper off and return Tuesday afternoon.
“I expect the coverage (Tuesday) to be a little more limited,” Nitz said.
On the heels of Atlanta’s 81st day of temperatures this year in the 90s Sunday, highs will stay in the upper 80s through Saturday. Atlanta is expected to reach a high of 88 degrees by 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Temperatures were 89 degrees in Atlanta, 83 in Blairsville and 82 in Griffin just after 5:10 p.m.
