Mostly clear skies and little chance of rain are in store for Friday evening.
That follows a comfortable afternoon, when metro Atlanta experienced a slight break in the usual summer mugginess.
“The humidity is going down,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said. “There’s a front coming in. It’ll feel a little better.”
There was a 30 percent chance of rain Friday. Most of the isolated showers the rest of the evening will be southeast of the metro area, Channel 2 reported.
Currently, the temperature is 84 degrees in Atlanta, but feels like 87 with the humidity.
Friday’s high was expected to hit 90, which is 2 degrees above the average for this date.
The chance of rain disappears Saturday and Sunday, and lower humidity moves in. The expected high Saturday is 91 degrees, followed by 92 Sunday.
“It should be a little cooler (Saturday) morning,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said. “Cooler than it has been in recent days.”
Looking ahead to Monday and the solar eclipse, there’s a 20 percent chance of rain with a high of 91 degrees.
“We’ll have a partly cloudy sky,” Nitz said. “So it’s looking better than it looked a week ago.”
Even if more clouds roll in Monday, the view won’t be entirely blocked, Nitz said.
During the eclipse, expect temps to drop into the mid-70s.
