Most of metro Atlanta may get a few spotty showers during rush hour Monday. But the next downpour isn’t expected until Thursday.

“It’s not going to be widespread,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said. “It’s just going to be here and there.”

Temperatures were 73 degrees in Atlanta, 65 degrees in Blairsville and 65 degrees in Griffin just before 11 p.m.

Isolated showers will begin about 6 p.m. in all but the western portion of metro Atlanta, Minton said.

Those showers will clear by the time the sun goes down, but a slight chance of rain will remain most of the week.

The metro area will experience above-average temperatures, increasing to the 80s Tuesday and staying there through Friday.

Another weather system out to the west is expected to push toward metro Atlanta on Thursday morning. Rain is expected to hit northwest Georgia between 7 and 9 a.m. and later make its way across the state.

“So do anticipate that Thursday will be the day you’ll be dealing with more showers and some thunderstorms,” Minton said. “Although, [I’m] not expecting them to turn severe at this point, but maybe strong in a few cases.”

The pollen count, which fluctuated last week, increased to 982 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air Monday. That's well below the current season high of 4,107 and last year's season high of 6,152.
