Another year and another milestone for one of the city's oldest residents.
Geneva Cooper turns 103 on Sunday -- Mother's Day.
Friday, her friends at her living complex held a special celebration for her.
"It means that she's not forgotten and she’s loved. It's like she says, 'she’s a little piece of leather, but she's well put together," Derrick Mims, Cooper's caretaker, said.
Cooper also holds the recognition of being the first African American librarian hired in the city of Memphis.
