The panelists: Robyn Moreno, executive editor, beauty & lifestyle for Latina magazine and Latina.com

Lifestyle expert Robyn Moreno had been working at women’s publications for 20 years, offering advice on everything from making do-it-yourself crafts to making the perfect margarita. Just when she thought she had things figured out, she had her first child.

“All the expertise I had just went out the window,” she says. “I didn’t know who I was anymore.”

Moreno turned to writing. She launched the popular blog “Pockets of Pretty,” where she opened up to readers and shared some of her personal struggles that ranged from balancing her work and life to parenthood.

Moreno wrote the book “Hecho By You: Make a Life You Love From The Inside Out.”

1. You've got to put yourself out there. Everyone has dreams. To make them happen you have to walk toward what you want to do, she says. No one is going to make them happen for you.

2. If you ain't failing, you ain't trying. People are terrified to fail. So many good ideas don't make it in the world because we're too scared to do it.

3. The guru is you. The idea is that you have to trust your intuition and your judgment. Listen to advice, research information, but then trust that you know who you are and you know what you want.

Other advice:

Sometimes you have 10 ideas in your head that you’d love to pursure, but then get paralyzed and don’t try any of them because you get caught up on what’s the right path, the right idea. It doesn’t always have to be the right idea, Moreno says, it can also just be your next idea.

The definition of courage doesn’t mean not having fear. Everyone is scared.
