Demetris Harris, a three-star offensive lineman from Jacksonville, Fla., announced his commitment to Georgia Tech Monday afternoon. He became the eighth player to commit to the Yellow Jackets’ 2017 signing class and its third offensive lineman.

Harris, from Robert E. Lee High, was choosing between Wake Forest, South Florida and Tech.

"The decision was not easy, but I have decided to commit my education and football career to Georgia Tech," Harris wrote in a message from his Twitter account.

Harris is listed at 6-foot-3 ½ and 283 pounds on his page on 247 Sports.

Harris joins a growing line of players from Jacksonville, an area recruited by A-backs coach Lamar Owens. Jacksonville players on the roster: cornerbacks Step Durham, Lynn Griffin and Lamont Simmons, linebacker Victor Alexander and defensive end Antonio Simmons.
