Georgia had to report a Level III NCAA recruiting violation on Oct. 19th due to a phone call mix-up between assistant coaches.

Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and receivers coach Tony Ball both contacted the same recruit during the same week. The prospect was not identified in documents turned over by UGA in response to an open records request.

The confusion started when the prospect called “Coach A” and requested that “Coach B” call him back later. A digital phone application called “Recruiting Radar” caught the error and the mistake was immediately reported to Ronnie Letson, the director of player personnel, who contacted UGA’s compliance office.

The Bulldogs won’t be penalized for the rules violation but the football staff will be subjected to additional “rules education,” according to UGA’s compliance report.
