Grammy Award winner and Atlanta native Tip “T.I.” Harris will take part in the Hawks’ regular-season home opener, including performances pre- and post-game and at halftime.

The Hawks host the Pacers on Saturday, Nov. 1 and fans that enter Philips Arena before 7 p.m. will be able to watch T.I. perform. He will also team with PA announcer Ryan Cameron for player introductions.

“I think everybody needs to come out and make it their business to support the Hawks and support the city,” T.I. said in a statement released by the team. “I will be performing at the pregame show, the halftime and the postgame as well; all for the people who come to support my team, the Atlanta Hawks, and my city. We gotta set it off with a celebration.”

Early-arriving fans will also receive $10 in Hawks Bucks to spend. All fans will receive a free T-shirt.

The Hawks said ticket prices for the game have been reduced but did not elaborate.

“We are beyond excited to partner with a superstar like T.I. and put on a first-class event to kick off the season and celebrate our city,” CEO Steve Koonin said in a statement. “We can’t wait to Pound the Pacers and put on a show for the city of Atlanta like they’ve never seen before at a basketball game.”

The Hawks brought in Koonin to re-brand the team before the current controversy that has engulfed the franchise.
