Nearly 38 years ago, on Nov. 22, 1977, Bobby Cox officially became the seventh full-time manager of the Braves.
At 36, Cox was then the youngest manager in the National League and the youngest in the team's Atlanta history.
He was dismissed after a few losing seasons, but he returned to managing the team nearly a decade later. Little did the city know then, Cox would go on to become a baseball icon as the Braves collected 14 division titles, including the 1995 World Series title, during his time as manager.
His accomplishments culminated with his induction into baseball's Hall of Fame in 2014.
The top managerial prospect's arrival in Atlanta in November 1977 was all the buzz at the time.

What does your travel itinerary say for this week, Bobby Cox?
Pause.
"All I can say is I'm packed," Cox said from his Selma, Calif. home Sunday night, "and I'll catch a plane tomorrow ... for somewhere."
