Pope Francis missed a step in front of a massive crowd on Thursday and fell during Mass at Poland's holiest shrine.

Francis, 79, fell in front of the open-air altar at Jasna Gora as he was about to begin Mass. The pontiff was quickly helped to his feet and the Mass continued without interruption.

Vatican officials told The Associated Press that Francis was fine after the tumble.

It was not the first time that he has stumbled or fallen at a public ceremony, but it has never prevented Francis from carrying out his duties.
