A group of Florida men captured an owl and took it on a joyride, according to authorities.
The escapade was caught on camera and posted on social media.
In the video, the men are driving and passing around a bottle of some liquor, with the great horned owl clearly visible.
The video was posted to Facebook with the caption: "3 a.m. in the morning we are drunk and we are high we bout to take this thing home and eat it up just found it on the road."
WFTV reports that the video has received over 100,000 views.
The fact that the owl remains still in the video is surprising, since they are usually very aggressive and armed with sharp talons, according to The Nature Conservancy.
While great horned owls are not endangered, they are protected because, according to The Nature Conservancy, they are migratory birds.
The Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission and Animal Care and Control are both investigating the video.
"Having an owl in your possession like this is a felony," David Hitzig, of Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, told WPTV.
He said that the owl was only harmless because it was in a daze.
According to a local news station, Johnny Duverson claims he shot the viral video and said he and his cousin did not hurt the owl.
"It didn't fly away so we knew it was hurt," Duverson said. He claims the owl was dropped off in Lake Worth.
