Of the 17 high schools in the Cobb County School District, nine are included in U.S. News and World Report's rankings of the nation's best public schools

The annual rankings measure schools in four major categories: student-teacher ratio, college readiness, math proficiency and English proficiency.

Walton High School is Cobb County's top-raked school (ranked No. 7 in the state) with a college readiness score of 66.1, mathematics score of 3.3 and a reading score of 3.8 -- all above average for Georgia.

Lassiter High School (ranked No. 19 in the state) and Pope High School (ranked No. 25 in the state) are the second- and third-best high schools in Cobb County, respectively.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has also compiled the most recent educational data in several important categories for these schools and nearly every Georgia public high school, including graduation rates, average SAT scores and more.

Walton High School

• 2014 average SAT scores: 1724
• 2014 graduation rate: 92.7
• Percentage of students in 2013-14 who took an AP class: 49.7
• Percentage of students who qualified for HOPE: 66.57

Alan Pope High School

• 2014 average SAT scores: 1666
• 2014 graduation rate: 88
• Percentage of students in 2013-14 who took an AP class: 30
• Percentage of students who qualified for HOPE: 68.09

Lassiter High School

• 2014 average SAT scores: 1643
• 2014 graduation rate: 91.5
• Percentage of students in 2013-14 who took an AP class: 32.4
• Percentage of students who qualified for HOPE: 63.48
