Three months ago, Ryan Garrett allegedly was becoming someone’s Mr. Right on a VH1 reality show.
Now, he’s in the DeKalb County jail, accused of running a drug business from his home, according to Doraville police.
Garrett, 29, was being held without bond Tuesday on a variety of charges following his arrest last Friday, jail records show. He has been charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of various drugs, tampering with evidence, distribution of marijuana and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
VH1 did not respond Tuesday afternoon to a request for information regarding Garrett's involvement on the "Making Mr. Right" reality show. But according to his Facebook and Twitter sites, Garrett was a cast member on the show earlier this year.
Doraville police officers obtained a search warrant for Garrett’s Pontiac Circle home Thursday night after smelling marijuana and seeing lights and hoses commonly used for a grow operation, Officer Gene Callaway said. Officers checked the home after seeing two men leave.
The following day, SWAT officers returned and searched the home.
“Not only was it confirmed the resident was growing marijuana, but detectives also discovered over 6,000 Xanax, steroids, materials used for the distribution of the drugs and a 9mm hand gun,” Callaway said in an emailed statement.
Officers also found Valium and Oxycontin pills in the home, Callaway said Tuesday. Garrett’s case has been bound over to Superior Court, jail records show.
Earlier this year, Garrett was one of 15 bachelors on a VH1 show called “Making Mr. Right,” according to his social media accounts. The men selected for the reality show believed it was called “Match Me If You Can,” but instead the men were part of an “experiment” for three women to mold them into “perfect” matches, according to the network’s website.
Garrett appeared to be the perfect match for one of the female cast members, Rachel Seeker. But on Twitter earlier this month, Seeker said the two were not romantically involved.
“We’re friends :) live too far away from each other & are both very busy,” Seeker wrote on Twitter.
