Gov. Deal never met tax or fee he didn’t like

It’s clear that, given the favorable assessment and generally positive reviews given Gov. Nathan Deal by the AJC, he had to first clear the “progressive AJC screening” all lukewarm Republicans must traverse to be a certified suitable conservative for the liberal mindset. I was not, therefore, shocked at the positive review he received. Glossed over in an understated manner was his $1 billion “infrastructure repair” tax hike, his absolute backing of every toll-lane scheme he saw (he must always regret trading Ga. 400 tolls for the T-SPLOST scam), and his full backing of the Delta Air Lines gift of non-taxable jet fuel. In short, from the internet to the interstates, this governor never saw a surcharge, toll or tax he didn’t like.

Gov’t. shutdown part of D.C. pols’ shell game

The current partial shutdown of our federal government is about finding $5 billion to pay for a wall along our border with Mexico. Candidate and later President Trump claimed Mexico would pay for it. Now he claims “savings” from his new trade deal with Mexico would offset the costs if American taxpayers paid for it. Even if his new deal saved some of us $5 billion, the U.S. Department of Agriculture just paid over $5 billion to American farmers for losses caused by Trump’s trade deal with China. This is a shell game. The U.S. Constitution allows Congress to set rules to conduct its business, but those powers were never intended to manipulate a shutdown of our government to combat political rivals. This is a betrayal of trust. American citizens are being played for fools, again.
