For the last week, my children’s high school, like many others in metro Atlanta, has been caught up in homecoming and the related events, parades and daily themes. American high schools devote a lot more time to sports and clubs than their counterparts in the Asian and European nations that outpace us. I write today about whether we’re asking too much of schools. A guest columnist wonders whether the push for science and math is overshadowing the arts. Readers sound off on Georgia’s growing class sizes.
