A veteran Cobb County police officer died of a sudden illness this week while off-duty.
Rodney Alan Kiker, 46, of Paulding County, died Tuesday, according to his online obituary. The Michigan native spent more than 23 years with the Cobb County Police Department.
“He understood honor and duty, serving his fellow man, and truly loved being a police officer and loved being in the motors division,” the obituary states.
Kiker was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed martial arts and was a member of the American Legion, Post 111 in Dallas. He is survived by his wife, two children, and a grandchild, in addition to several other relatives.
A funeral service for Kiker will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at West Metro Church of Christ in Hiram, with Rev. Ricky Gray officiating. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
