The family of the young girl who was pulled from a dock by a sea lion is speaking out about the incident.
The father said that some on social media falsely accused his six-year-old daughter and her grandparents of feeding the marine animals, according to CBC News.
“There was somebody beside them that was trying to feed them. Also, they weren't trying to take pictures or anything," the father told CBC.
On Saturday, a sea lion dragged the child into the Steveston Fisherman's Wharf in Vancouver and the video went viral.
The girl was rushed to the hospital where she was prescribed antibiotics for a “superficial wound, five centimeters by 10 centimeters, on her lower body,” CBC reported.
The Lau family admitted that the child was too close to the water, but said she learned her “lesson the hard way,” according to CBC.
