It took about three hours, but rescuers finally pulled a 4-year-old boy and his dog up from a well where the two had fallen down at least 25 feet.
The boy fell down the well around 5 p.m.
Rescuers said they tried to pull the child up with a rope, but the little boy did not know how to attach it. Finally, rescuers were able to get the ropes under the boy's arms and pull him out that way. The dog was then pulled up with a snare.
An official at the scene said the boy's dog may have fallen into the well first — possibly as much as a week before the boy found him. The boy was following the dog's barking when he fell in, an official said.
The child was taken from the scene by ambulance but was not seriously injured, officials said — just hungry.
