The driver of an SUV lost control of his SUV and narrowly missed hitting a man who was pumping gas outside a Four Corners Store in West Gardiner.
Surveillance video captured the incident.
Joel Moran said he didn’t realize how close he came to being hit until he saw the video.
Police said the driver of an SUV blew through a stop sign and was clipped by another SUV coming through the intersection. That second SUV lost control and careened across the road toward Moran.
In the video, Moran is seen instinctively stepping back. If he had not done that, he might have been crushed.
The gas pump was damaged, but there were no injuries. Police said the driver who ran the stop sign was charged with failure to stop.
