Mike Robinson, a skydiving instructor who escaped the collision, told the Star Tribune the jumpers had to dodge debris from the destroyed plane on their way down.
“We followed our instincts. We just jumped. And we watched everything falling around us. … You could recreate this thousands of times and I don’t think you could come out with a more positive outcome.”
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
