A Tennessee tutor was arrested after police found three children in the trunk of her car.

According to La Vergne police, a concerned citizen at the Speedway gas station on Murfreesboro Road called 911 to report a woman with kids in the trunk of her car. Police found that 33-year-old Andria D. James had three children, all 10 years old or younger, in the trunk.

Six children of similar ages were found in the cab area of the vehicle.

The children’s parents were called to pick up their children, and James was taken into custody. The children were students of James, who is a tutor, authorities said.

Andria James, an intervention specialist at Alex Green Elementary Impact School, told FOX17 that two of the kids were hers and they had stopped for pizza at the gas station.

She said the kids were playing and that is how they wound up in the trunk

James is facing three counts of reckless endangerment. According to Rutherford County Jail booking information, James was booked Sunday evening and released overnight. Bond was set at $1,000.

Metro Nashville Public Schools issued a statement:

"Andria James is a part-time tutor at Alex Green Elementary and has been since September. She will be placed on administrative leave as soon as district offices reopen in the morning, as is standard procedure when an employee is arrested. We are in contact with the authorities in Rutherford County and will cooperate fully with their investigation. Obviously, the acts she is accused of are completely inappropriate for an educator entrusted with caring for students, and we will take further disciplinary action if needed as more details come to light.
