According to the Detroit News, John Yob, national political director for Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, said Rubio's deputy campaign manager, Rich Beeson, punched him in the face Thursday night at a bar on Michigan's Mackinac Island. The Republican strategists were in town for a leadership conference.

"Last night, I went to a bar on Mackinac Island for the GOP Mackinac Conference," Yob wrote Friday on Facebook. "I ran into a guy named Rich Beeson, who frankly I didn't even know who it was at first because he isn't relevant in our political world. Anyway, he is Marco Rubio's national campaign manager. He literally physically assaulted me by punching me in the face. The state police are looking for him. I have it on video, from multiple angles. This will play out in the national media in the next few hours."

Surveillance video from Horn's Gaslight Bar appears to show a man striking someone who looks like Yob, the Detroit News reportedWatch the footage here.

Political blogger Brandon Hall told WXMI that he saw the altercation and called the punch "unprovoked." Politico.com reporter Marc Caputo, however, said Yob "lied and/or exaggerated" about the incident.
