A woman was assaulted in a grocery store bathroom by a juvenile who forced his way into her stall, according to Gaston County police.
The 22-year-old woman spoke to WSOC about what happened Sunday at a local Food Lion.
She said her quick reaction caused the juvenile to run away.
Police said the woman went into the ladies restroom. The juvenile pushed his way into her stall, grabbed her by the neck and forced her against the wall.
The 5-foot-2 woman kicked and punched until the suspect gave up.
A Food Lion employee flagged down officers eating at a restaurant next door.
They chased and caught the juvenile at the tractor store just across the street. He faces charges.
Police said it is unusual for them to see something like that in the area. Customers said they never worry about problems there either.
A Food Lion spokesperson did not comment on the incident, but said the company’s thoughts are with the victim, hoping she has a speedy recovery.
