A former Chicago cop is in hot water again after a controversial photo was released by the court.
The photo of two white police officers holding rifles posing over a black man wearing deer antlers surfaced a few years back and had city lawyers trying to keep it from being seen by the public, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. The inital photo leak led to the firing of Timothy McDermott last year. McDermott is currently appealing the decision in court and a judge rejected a police department request to keep the photo sealed. They believe that this photo was taken between 1999 and 2003.
The Sun-Times adds that the other officer in the photo with the unidentified black man is Jerome Finnigan. He is currently serving a 12-year sentence for leading a group of rogue officers that carried out robberies and home invasions.
While McDermott is trying to get his job back, Chicago Police Department Superintendant Garry McCarthy told The Huffington Post that he stands by the decision.
"This picture is disgusting, and the despicable actions of these two former officers have no place in our police department or in our society," he said in an emailed statement.
"As the Superintendent of this department, and as a resident of our city, I will not tolerate this kind of behavior, and that is why neither of these officers works for CPD today. I fired one of the officers, and would have fired the other if he hadn't already been fired by the time I found out about the picture."
