Autopsy results have been released for the gunman and of some of the 49 people he shot and killed inside Pulse nightclub the night of June 12.
The shooter, Omar Mateen, was shot eight times, including once in the head and twice in the chest, autopsy results revealed.
No drugs or alcohol were found in his body. The report also says his testosterone range was normal.
A screen for steroids did show an increased level of creatinine, which comes from the normal breakdown of muscle tissue. A medical doctor told Channel 9 creatinine is usually at higher levels in gunshot victims.
Autopsy reports for 13 of the victims were released including those of Akyra Murray, Christopher Sanfeliz, Eddie Justice, Jason Josaphat, Jerald Wright, Juan Chavez-Martinez, Juan Rivera Valazquez, Luis Ocasio Capo, Martin Benitez Torres, Mercedez Flores, Shane Tomlinson, Xavier Serrano Rosado and Yilmary Rodriguez-Solivan.
The families of the victims were notified beforehand that the reports would be released.
WFTV will not detail the victims’ reports, out of respect for their families.
It’s unclear if all the shots that killed the victims came from Mateen’s guns.
Investigators said Mateen used an assault rifle and a handgun in the attacks.
One of the autopsy reports mentions a medium-caliber bullet, but doesn’t go into any more detail.
Federal investigators will analyze the bullets collected during the autopsies to see if any of them came from law enforcement officer's weapons.
The Medical Examiner’s Office said it will release an autopsy report for each of the 49 victims over the next several days.
Officials said they plan to release additional reports Monday, and will finish releasing all of them by Wednesday.
