A Connecticut man was arrested Thursday after stealing a $520,000 lottery ticket from his niece, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.
Michael Royston, 49, tried to cash the lottery ticket at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, but his niece had already reported the lottery ticket stolen. When caught, Royston told police he found the ticket under the seat of his car, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.
He was taken to Leon County Jail on charges of trying to pass a lottery ticket with the intent to defraud, filling a false claim for payment and grand theft over $100,000.
