Tennessee police said a man passed out from a dose of heroin caused a three-vehicle crash in Clarksville, authorities said.

Officers were called to an intersection Wednesday and found a 38-year-old man unconscious with a syringe in a Hyundai, Clarksville police spokesman Jim Knoll told the Leaf-Chronicle.

The driver woke up when an officer opened the door of the Hyundai, the newspaper reported.

Witnesses told police two vehicles were stopped at a red light when the Hyundai crashed into one of them and hit the third vehicle, the Leaf-Chronicle reported.

The driver of the Hyundai was arrested on multiple charges, the newspaper reported. The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.
