A Louisiana police officer was shot and killed late Wednesday, and a manhunt is underway for the suspect.
According to The Associated Press, the officer with the Shreveport Police Department was shot several times while he was at a home to investigate a report of a suspicious person. Cpl. Marcus Hines said an armed man there was threatening to hurt a family member, the Shreveport Times reports.
Hines said the officer was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Police have not released the name of the officer or the suspected gunman.
