An act of kindness by an officer with the Palatka Police Department in Florida was caught on his body camera.
Palatka Police Officer Mike Meredith was talking with a man in the parking lot of Town and Country Shopping Plaza on Nov. 27. The officer learned that the man was homeless and his shoes were worn out.
Meredith asked the man for his shoe size, walked across the street to Payless Shoe Source and bought the man a new pair of tennis shoes.
Meredith came back to the man and said, "How about an early Christmas present?"
"I really appreciate it," the man replied
Meredith said feet are important and you have to take care of them. After making sure the shoes fit perfectly, Meredith wished him a merry Christmas.
Meredith's kindness and selfless act was captured on his body camera.
The Police Department posted Meredith's act of kindness, saying: "Officer Meredith went above and beyond and we are very proud of him. Thank you, Officer Meredith."
