Tom Brady has joined Twitter in March and his first tweet was an April Fools’ Day joke that drew mixed responses.
The New England Patriots quarterback announced on April 1 he would be tweeting instead of winning Super Bowl games.
“I’m retiring. In my spare time, I'll be tweeting,” he wrote along with a hashtag that nods to a NSFW version of a phrase he routinely shouts at games.
Most responses indicated fans were happy Brady was on the social network, but some thought he was really leaving the league. Others quickly called it out as an April Fools’ joke.
Nearly an hour later, he cleared up confusion for some who thought he was really retiring.

“Was this a bad joke?” he tweeted.
"It's a bit deflating, to be honest," writer Charlotte Clymer replied.
"Solid start, but really need you in the 4th quarter," former NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth wrote.
